Comic books and old boxes

So I've had a stack of old comics sitting in the corner of my living room for more than a year now, waiting to be transformed into something. They're mostly X-men and Zero Hour, with some random ones mixed in. When I heard that there's a Heroes and Heroines party coming up, I figured now's the time to bust out the Mod Podge. I started with some old wooden boxes from Community Thrift, 14244 N. Nebraska Ave. After painting them, I added scenes cut out from the comic books and applied a glossy top coat (maybe I should have been a manicurist?). I'll have these on display in my cubby at Artpool soon.

Caption: The redhead ... her resemblance to Jean Grey is uncanny! Are they related? Does she possess the power of the Phoenix?!!

Captions: Dr. Fate was ripped apart ... Kent and Inza left powerless as plain old mortals. Wildcat's suffered a heart attack ... Sandman and Doc Mid-nite, from extreme old age. Like all of us.

Caption: I wanted to do more. We all did. But left at this age ... My reactions weren't swift enough ... sure enough. I'm finished as Starman. Finished.

Caption: Be a shame if something bad happens to my nice, new jacket!

This one is a box for ties and cufflinks, although you could use it for rings or change or to store your tiny miracles. The band across the inside of the lid says: Tie Tack Tie Bar. Also, this one has hooks on the back so you can hang it on the wall.
